Restaurant Review: Café Zoe [NM Joshi Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai]

Share
Yello!
I'm back!

*rides in balancing on two bikes #LikeADevgan*

So I went to Cafe Zoe for lunch recently because you know, I can.
Before I begin, let me try to be phunny yet again.

What do you call a lonely banana?
Akela.

Bored Banana?
Pakela.

Monumental Banana in New Delhi?
Laal Kela.

Yeah, I know, I have gone bananas.
I am gonana.

Okay sorry, please don't close the window before reading the review!
Thank you.

So I finally decided to go to Café Zoe, the newest cafe and brasserie in Mumbai; at Lower Parel, in the same mills compound where Blue Frog is located. The decor is underdone with exposed brick walls but the place flaunts tones of pure white, colourful couches, a bookshelf, an endlessly high ceiling and an open bar which makes it look flamboyantly classy, somewhat similar to Pali Village Cafe.

Here's what I tried there.

Green Apple Rock Martini
If you like yummy apple martinis, you will definitely not be disappointed. Not one bit. The flavour of fresh green apple was perfectly tangy; overall a clean, smooth and refreshing drink. Don't just get a glass (Rs. 400), get a pitcher (Rs. 1500), I say!

Caeser Salad Chicken
I was surprised to receive this in a glass jar. Full marks for presentation! The lettuce was fresh, chicken was tender but overall, slightly disappointing.
I love Caeser Salad, that's why I keep trying it everywhere I go, to find the best one in Mumbai. So far, I'd say the one at Cafe Mangii (read review) is the best.

Truffle Cappellini
The menu states "too good to be true" under the entry of this dish. I agree, it was too good to be true but at Rs. 550 (+taxes), I expected a little more on my plate. The cappellini was fresh, the dish was creamy and the truffle added tremendous value to it with its flavour. Highly recommended, do try!

Pancakes (with maple syrup and cream)
They were gone in 60 seconds. Need I say anything else?
Yes, they are yummier than they look in this picture!

Blueberry Cheesecake
Unfortunately, this was not even half as good as I expected it to be. Crumbly, not velvety and the blueberries were a little too sour for my palate. I should have stuck to my first choice, I should have ordered mousse or maybe fresh watermelon juice that almost everyone there was enjoying at that time.

Rate Card

What's Garma-Garam?
The menu looks great but I think I need to go again to know if everything is as great as their pancakes.

What's Thanda?
Pricing seems a little unreasonable. Just a little.

Andar Ki Baat
I have noticed many nutritionists recommend Café Zoe's deli section, especially salads, smoothies and fresh juices.

Dakaar Level:
3/5
(I probably need to go again to be completely sure)

Café Zoe is a restaurant by day and a pub by night. Many, who work nearby, drop in for breakfast regularly. So if you are looking for a new hangout or watering hole, this might just be it.

Go check it out this upcoming weekend.

Happy hogging! :)

  1. As I am now a Lower Parel-ite, I find this information very helpful. Especially coz there aren't any interesting hangouts around my office!
The Green Apple Rock Martini looks tempting... And the place looks nicely lit up :)
